Dr.Newheart...loves kids!

This years kid's Christmas play was phenomenal! You could surely tell that alot of hard work and prayer went into every aspect of the show! I was pleasantly surprised with everything and really hope my mom got good video because i would love to watch it over and over again!

Props to Mrs.Cherise, Shaunna, and Heidi for all that they have done!


Ladies and Gentlemen the White Christmas award goes to...

VICTORY WORLD OUTREACH!

Yes, that is first place in the parade of lights. Out of 88 entries we stole the cake and the trophy! Mark Moya, Mr.Rudy, Marcus, and a whole lot of other people did a terrific job putting the float together piece by piece! The judges walked by for literally 20 seconds wrote on their little pads of paper and walked off. When the judges came our music wasn't working and we were even missing people on the float. We must have blown everyone out of the park because they didn't even ask us to do our little diddy - it only took them 20 seconds to see we were the most amazing!

Much thanks to mrs.debbie for allowing me to be spirit 1 for a few hours!


We continue to think and pray for the Nairobi Conference who are currently in the middle of their first evening service as i type! Those will surely be pictures of interest! :0)

I have recently been made aware through the seeing of my own little eyes that winter does not start until December 20th! But in the happiness of FALL i decided to take some pictures of Nanny's very lovely back yard - thus producing some of the most fun shots I have ever taken! Enjoy...and to all a Happy Fall!

Kenyan Favorites?

Whats my favorite part about Nairobi, Kenya? I was asked this last night by wonderful Amanda Ziddell and it took me a second to think. After I answered she asked what was the hardest thing to get used to? Again I took a second to think and came to the conclusion that my answer was the same for both questions. My favorite thing about Kenya is nothing abstract, deep, or even probably unique. My favorite thing about Kenya is being in Kenya. My favorite thing about Kenya is walking down the street with 100 other people who you can tell are fighting for every breathe. My favorite thing about Kenya is smelling burning trash and other many funky smells. My favorite thing about Kenya is being put into unimaginable situations in which you don't know what todo, but it always ends in a good story. My favorite thing about Kenya is leaving church with the heal of my shoe covered in mud (and coming to conference having forgotten to clean the shoes!) My favorite thing about Kenya is sitting in a matatu waiting for it to leave for 45 minutes. My favorite thing about Kenya is not being able to go to McDonalds. My favorite thing about Kenya having time to stop and smell the purpleorangegreenyellowpink flower, my favorite thing about Kenya is walking in the slums and hearing kids yell "Mzungu Mzungu", My favorite thing IS KENYA

While all of these are now my favorite things, and frankly my list could go on until it never ends, 99.9% of these things are what made living in Kenya the hardest - But Oh does God know! God DOES know!

Whats in an American?

I have learned something being in the U.S. I am no longer an American. When I started this blog I had the wee hope in the back of my mind that it would keep me connected to the life, in the Grand Ole' home of Abe Lincoln, while sharing the life I hadn't yet found myself apart of (simplified:I wanted to talk about Kenya while hoping American's would respond!) Now I realize I am truly not American. Why do I say this...simple. I don't have a preference between coke and pepsi. When someone says "I want a Whopper" i have to think "Is that McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, Carls Jr." Going into a restaurant is not a nice relaxing time to get to know those I am with but rather a stressful time studying a menu in a language I feel far from, sweating bullets knowing my life savings is going for a lump of potatoes, and then you have the kind guys who ridicule you for not leaving enough tip! I have told some people and I feel this truly. When I have come to conference these many years now, I "played house" or "played American" now that my 3 week vacation of being happy go lucky is over - I am left having to fend for myself and my American weaknesses have been spread out on a walmart shelf showing everyone "She is a weird American!" As hard, frustrating, and often stressful it is knowing everything, gets old! For me, going through the McDonalds drive through, I don't know what I want before I get there. I HAVE to read the menu or I will be ordering a Jr.Bacon Cheeseburger, Curly Frieds, and small Blizzard. But it has made life every bit more exciting! This is a rather short post...hope there are more on the way. But all in all - I love the struggles of living in America - it is an everyday struggle trying to remember zip codes and phone numbers (and directions!) But truly What's in an American - a little bit of every other country right?

Some News...

we are in the middle of chaos...literally. Elections were last week for a new president and the man who has been president for the past 5 years was re-elected...he was the guy we liked even though it doesn't matter who we like. The opponent is for muslims and frankly made too many crazy promises! The past few days people have been killing one another in many ways. Many people in our church have had their houses burned down and are becoming ill because there is no food. There were some men from one political party that took a man from another party and had set up tires in the road ready to burn him, thankfully they were stopped. One city is in complete shambles and no one can even leave the airport. My parents went shopping today at the only open store and my mom describes it as being like the day after christmas sale only it is stuff you are buying for survival. People's carts where filled to the top with things like flour, sugar, water and that sorta stuff. there is no milk or bread. to top it all off the candidate who lots the presidential elections called a rally on thursday, he expects 1 million people to show up. he will probably get them all riled up and God only knows what will happen. We thought it was getting better but it seems that in all reality it is likely to get much much worse! i pray our internet stays on for a long time but we have no assurances. i can assure you we won't starve, haha, our pantry and fridge could feed us for at-least 3 weeks! my mom pretty much bought out the grocery store. things are crazy here. so everyone knows i haven't seen any of this with my eyes only through the newspaper and what my parents tell me. we are safe and secure in the middle of a good neighborhood and while that does not mean for sure that nothing will happen the bad guys are targeting the slums first. so please pray for us but even more pray for our people. we have received multiple texts of people in our church who are suffering. more than anything food is very scarce especially for those who don't have much money.

This Time!

In the midst of hours of school i have brought you some pictures! I apologize for their deladeness! I want to put a quick word in though that i LOVE COLORADO SPRINGS! i felt so immensely welcome this time when i went. it is like going back to a big family. i know people at school are tired of me talking about my home church but i love you all so much. i gave one of my teacher's a VV and he was saying how our church seemed very unique in that we are big but we seemed largely focused on loving God to have a personal relationship with him, not loving God to get something from him. he also mentioned how we were very outward focused. i was like THAT IS MY WONDERFUL CHURCH! i am so proud. maybe a bit too proud but....nahhhh. THANK YOu so MUCH! here is a quick slideshow. these pictures were originally put on the internet for nicole and jenna's sake so that is why there is not so many of...if any...of church and stuff. and quite a bit of nicole and jenna :0). I LOVE COLORADO SPRINGS!
