Soupa? Ipa! (translated that means Hello? Hi!) Last saturday we strapped up the car with gas cans, sodas, and a few people then headed out to maasai land for a maasai wedding. I had never been to one but i still had great expectations having gone to maasai dance things and that sorta stuff (you know stuff tourists like!) So first we drove for a mere 2

hours (we expected 7 hours) to the bride's house to pick her up to take her to the ceremony. This was shock number one. Once we got there we realized that she was leaving her family FOREVER! As in she was never to ever see them again. She walked to the car very slowly BAWLING! It was one of the saddest things ever. Well, eventually we did drive off with her and headed to the place of the actual ceremony. At this point we now had 10 people in my dad's car. It was around 9:00 A.M at this point and the guys in the car said they had a short cut for us to take. Sure enough it was a kenyan short cut, it took us 45 minutes more than it should have to get there but we finally made it. When we got there Elijah, he is a guard at the church and he came with us, took me inside of their "compound" where all the houses are to take pictures. I had so much fun snapping away and they LOVED it! they would just stand there and look at me. If i was pointing the camera a certain direction they would jump infront of the picture. It was so fun. After we had been there for about 35 minutes at most the bride and groom had gone inside this door. About 15 minutes later i asked when the ceremony began. They told me "it is already over." i was like WHAT?

i guess when she entered the door she became his. hmmm.... Well the rest of the day i guess was devoted to "celebrating." We some food. I tried goat brains, not to appetizing i must admit. The reason i tried it was because when they brough me my plate of food there was this thing of goat brains on it and i was determined not to leave that place without atleast tasting everything they offered me. By the end of the day i had drinken 2 cups of tea, eaten pure goat fat melted, sipped fermented milk, eaten goat brains, eaten boiled goat meat, potatoes cooked in goat fat, and i think i ate some intestines. How does that sound for a day's meals? Some guys did end up coming and dancing but really no one paid attention much.

We were able to walk up to Elijah's place. He had a huge place on the top of the mountain and it was gorgeous. i could have spent all day up there! many of my pictures came from while i was up there.

i wish i could explain everything that happened in great detail but it is so many words i am afraid i can't. Although i would love to tell someone about everything that happened that day because it was so fun!

SHMORGIS BOARD

Most of these pictures probably...hopefully speak a tad for themselves! These are just a GABOODLE of pictures from the past week and half. Some of these are of our TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY which was aboslutly AMAZING! The church was packed! Every picture you see of the actual church is on that day. I think actually most of the pictures are of that day. The ones with the cake are of our anniversary one of the ladies in the church made the cakes. The cake was so funny because the sizes of the pieces of cake were comical. You know the size of those stick like wafer cookies that is about the size and thickness of the pieces of cake. They really enjoyed it there but try and serve that to americans and you would have gotten "Are you serious" looks. We also had a wedding at the church on saturday and it was ALOT of fun! And...ummm i think that is about all. School started today and my brain is already drained and i haven't even done anything so i am sorry to say but this is the extent of my post! Miss yal! i will be posting the answers to those riddles very very soon! OHHH and the pictures of cooking! My goodness the cooking area was like a bee hive. We made enough food for 500 people on some fire and in like 6 huge pots! All of the cooking picture are of the wonderful working woman preparing the marvelous food! it was really delcious! ENJOY!

Riddles of the Hour

ONE-There is this really really rich man who wants a house built. So he puts a poster up saying that if someone can build him the perfect house, with absolutely no flaws, then he will pay them 1 million dollars. So a man took his wager and built him a house and it was perfect. So when the rich man came and looked around the house he also saw that it was perfect the paint was nice and smooth, the walls were completly straight. So the rich man was going to his car to get his checkbook and stumbled on a brick, he picked up the brick and said "sorry this house isn't perfect, no million dollars for you" the rich guy drove off. So the builder picked up the brick and almost threw it at the house then couldnt throw it at his beautiful creation. So he threw it in the air...And the brick never came down.

Here is the question- Why didn't the brick come down?

TWO-What grows when it eats and dies when it drinks?

THREE-What gets wetter as it dries?

The first one i couldn't get at all and my friend STILL won't tell me so once i get all of everyones answers i am going to bribe her to tell me (i have reese's in my pantry) then i will post it right away but first i beg of EVERYONE to PLEASE give me your thoughts!

Because we're HAPPY!

Ok everyone keep your hands feet and any other article that contains edible human parts inside this vehicle…because WE are going on an elephant hunt. Start up the engines. Everyone get those cameras ready. Cause HERE WE GO!

On the 31st of July we all packed up and headed out to the elephant orphanage. This is a place for all the tree huggers to go to help out the elephants that “so they say” would otherwise be dead if they wouldn’t have swung in on their golden vines and rescued them. Pretty much what happens is for -one hour only- you can go and watch elephants walk around inside of some rope.

The Perk: If they happen to walk by you, you can pet them!

And pet them we did. If anyone has ever wondered what they feel like, they are very scratchy and definitely not soft. They didn’t stand on any balls or jump through a ring of fire but honestly it was quite interesting. The elephants we saw were baby elephants and it was quite neat. We got to see them drink milk. And I learned that they are very aggressive they would walk to the side of the rope and through their trunks at people. They made one old lady fall down. I hate to laugh but it was kinda funny!

Now that we’ve gone on our elephant hunt lets go find a birthday. I know just the place. Daisy Fuentes…I mean

Yesterday at 11:00 we all shuffled into Pastor Safari and Susan’s house to celebrate Daisy’s birthday. We had our favorite meal- Rice and Cabbage- followed by some DELICIOUS (if I do say so myself) Orange Chocolate cupcakes. Yes you read right. They were orange cake with homemade yummy chocolate frosting. Daisy especially loved them and since she didn’t give us a show when she turned one, (she wouldn’t eat the cupcake and evan was very disappointed last year because he didn’t get to see a mess) Evan made her shove the cupcake in her face this time. She was a mess but it was a blast. She got two dolls and loved them! Also this past week Daisy learned how to smile on command to enjoy the pictures I had a blast taking them!
